Reverends

Since I was starting to feel pretty comfy with hacking up tires & wheels, I figured I give something a little different a shot. For bashing purposes I wanted a hard tire that would last forever but still have a little sidewall flex to absorb impacts. Thus, the 2.2 Reverends were born...

PARTS & SUPPLIES NEEDED
4 worn out 2.2 tires
1 26" mountain bike tire (Schwinn I think)

TOOLS
Thick Tire glue
Wire Cutters
Curved scissors

1. This will go along similar lines as the other tire/wheel projects ... it mostly cutting and gluing. The first thing I did was to cut away the old Moab treads. Try you best to keep the tread in tact as it will help you in step 2.

2. Next I took the Moab tread and cut it so that it would lay flat and I could measure it. Once I had some dimensions I could work with, I started cutting the bike tire. Take note that the bead of the bike tire has a wire in it.

3. Once you have it all cut out, you get to start gluing. I first glued the bike tread into a loop and let it dry for an hour or two. I then went back and one side at a time, glued the tread together where the lugs meet and made a crisscross pattern. I tried to glue a few spots on each tire then I'd put it down and work on another on while it dried.

The finished tires are a hair taller than the Moabs and they look awesome. They are not the best for crawling because they are to stiff, but for bashing & mudding, they are perfect.
