Positive offset wheels

I was looking for some wheels that have more of a positive offset to pull the tires under the body. I was attempting to make a scale looking setup and the wide WK axles keep most tires far away from the body. I decided to tryto make some Traxxas rims fit because I had two lying around. The best part is that these things are so cheap.

PARTS & SUPPLIES NEEDED
Traxxas Rear Chrome Wheel Rustler #3672
CA glue (thin is fine)
X-acto knife
Black Sharpie (optional)

TOOLS
Dremel with cutoff disks
Sandpaper (rough & fine)
Drill with assorted bits up to 9/32

1. Start by cutting off the outermost lip of the wheel, but cut as close to the inner part of the wheel as possible. Then, cut the inner lip off as close to the face of the wheel as you can. It's better to leave too much material on than cut into the face. You can always sand/grind off excess. After your second cut, sand the outer lip down as smooth & flush with the face as you dare.

2. The next step is to drill out the center hole to fit the wheelhex. You really want to take your time on this and drill straight in. If you have a drill press you are in luck. If not, do it by hand like I did because I forgot about the drill press. Anyway, you want to use regualr "beveled" bits (on the left in the pic). If you use something like the Dewalt bits that have the starter tip (on the right in the pic) it will be a big mess. I found a 9/32 bit to be a perfect match to the HPI wheel hexes I have.

3. The last step is to glue the outer lip back on. Before I glued mine back on I went over the exposed nylon with a sharpie, just for looks. Do a test fit and make sure you have clearance up front between the wheel & outer knuckle. I had to sand down the inner lip of my wheels in the front ... just a hair.

4. And now you see the results as compared to some other wheels. With the Traxxas wheels the outer width is just under 10" compared to 11.25" with the Axial beadlocks or HPI F5s.

Next up, I narrow the tires to bring it all in even more:
