Bed Bob

To help with a future project (lowering the body) I decided to bob the bed on my silver Chevy body. By doing this I would not only help my rig slide off of things, but also have less to cut off when I lowered the body for the second time.

PARTS & SUPPLIES NEEDED
RC Body
Refridgeration tape (looks like metal foil)
Thick CA Glue

TOOLS
Scissors
X-acto knife
Heat Gun

1. I started cutting on the back of the body near the tailgate. I figured the more I can use the stock lines the better my work will be hidden.

2. I then folded in the side to see how far in I could go before the bedsides would not look flat across the back. I could have gone in further and just used heat to make it all right, but I'm happy with the width.

3. With both sides cut it ws time to start gluing. I first used a little heat on the bed sides near the cab to get them to bend easier. I glued from the bottomg so as not to mess up the body on the outside. I tried using rubberbands to hold it together as I glued but found that the refridgeration tape worked great. It's tough as hell and VERY sticky. At this point I also cut off the tailgate to do some additional trimming.

4. With the gate back on the body I went ahead and tied the gate into the sides using the tap & glue.

5. It came out pretty well I think.

6. As an added bonus, I decided to make rockers into flaps. Once I lower the body I will need this so that I'm not dragging the body over obstacles. I cut down the sides using a factory line and reattached it with the same tape. (I eventually replaced the tape with masking tape them packing tape and it works a lot better now).
