1.9 Beadlocks

The "beadlocks" that come with the Losi MRC are not really beadlocks at all.
Rather than pony up the $ for some bling 1.9 beadlocks I opted to make some nice heavy wheels myself.

PARTS & SUPPLIES NEEDED
(4) Losi MRC stock wheels
2 Ft 2" PVC pipe
(8) flat washers for 7/8" bolts.
Lead weight
Longer beadlock ring hardware

TOOLS
Dremel
Drill with assorted bits
Step bit
Assorted handtools
Black Sharpie
Sand Paper
Small vice clamps

1. After removing your tires from your wheels, mark your PVC for a 20mm section with the sharpie.

2. Use the Dremel to cut off the piece of PVC. Better to leave extra than take off to much. Repeat steps 1 and 2 until you have 4 rings.

3. Using the dremel with a grinding stone, bevel the inner lips of the rings.

4. Once beveled you can debur them with sandpaper. They should now slide over your wheels easily. This is a good time to add weight to your wheels as well.

5. With the inner rings complete you can take the stock MRC beadlock ring and place it over one of the washers. You'll use it as a template for the bolt pattern. Center it on a washer, clamp it down and drill some light pilot holes (try to not cut into the bead lock ring).

6. Now you can fully drill the washer. I chose to slightly countersink my hardware.

7. For the last step you can debur the holes with the sandpaper. If you want to run all 8 washers, you'll need to use the step bit to enlarge the holes for the front inner washers.

8. Mount your tires being careful to not overtighten the hardware (the plastic will strip). I used the left over hardware from my 2.2 Berg wheels to mount the rings as it is a bit longer then the LOSI stuff.

I'm happy with the wheels. No glue needed and they seem to be holding the beads quite well. They are definitly a BIG improvement even with stock tires. The added weight really helps this thing climb.
